Berres Brothers Breakfast Blend Coffee Review

[spoiler title=’Click here to read the transcript. ‘ style=’default’ collapse_link=’true’]- Hey welcome to coffee coffee coffee. Your place for average Joe coffee reviews. Today’s coffee is supposed to be perfectly balanced, like hopefully I am, as I stand on this seawall.

– So today we are reviewing Barres Brothers Breakfast Blend. And it’s supposed to be perfectly balanced. Exquisitely smooth.

– Exquisite.

– Wake up to this lively blend of South and Central American beans, so. Yeah, so Barres Brothers, we got this, like sampler pack from a fan, they sent us this coffee, which we really appreciate. Shout out Ben. And, we’ve reviewed, maybe one other Barres Brothers so far right, Highlander Grogg.

– Yeah, yeah. Let me just say something about Central America. My favorite place in Central America is Ohio.

– What? No Central, oh gosh.

– I know, I’m just kidding.

– Oh gosh, okay so, so the price on this coffee is like, what were you saying?

– It’s like $10.65 for a 12 ounce bag, which is about $14 dollars a pound. You can also get it in these little packs, which is supposed to be enough for and eight to ten cup…

– Pot.

– And those, that’s a $1.69?

– Mhmm. And we made a, eight cup pot with this bag.

– Cause we try to get it as strong as we can.

– How we’re reviewing it, so. Yeah cause we, with the Highlander Grogg we wanted more coffee flavor, more like a bit stronger, so. So.

– Let’s get into it, see what we think.

– So, one thing I noticed right off the bat is nuttiness.

– Mhmm.

– Like, which I do enjoy with this coffee.

– That’s about the only thing that I’m getting is nuttiness. Which is good, we like nutty.

– Yeah. I almost, there’s like maybe kind of a little bit of bitterness. You get, it just, I mean it’s not bad, but it’s just, like almost there, kind of, I don’t know, almost burnt maybe, but.

– Right.

– I always compare, my like gold standard for nuttiness is the gourmet New York coffee that we had that time. The Sumatra, or Kenya?

– I can’t remember which one.

– Well anyway, it was super nutty, and I remember really enjoying that coffee. It was like, no mistaking. So I always compare it to that. And this one to me isn’t that nutty. But it’s really good, I mean I like it.

– It my favorite of the ones we’ve had so far from Berres Brothers, which was the Highlander Grogg, Columbia?

– Oh we did do Columbia.

– Columbia, and then this breakfast blend.

– Mhmm.

– So far this is the winner of the three we’ve had.

– Yeah this is definite, my definite favorite for sure.

– Even though Highlander Grogg is their biggest seller.

– Yeah, which you know, is a flavor coffee so. But yeah this one is, this one is really really nice. Like I’m, I’m like at a, what are you thinking?

– The price is pretty high, you know.

– That’s the thing.

– $14 dollars a pound is pretty high.

– That’s like higher than Pete’s, higher than most grocery store kind of stuff that you’re gonna find. This one you actually have to order online.

– Right.

– Unless you live, wherever this is made, I can’t…

– Yeah, Wisconsin.

– Yeah, yeah.

– But I would say three. Maybe three and a half.

– I’d say three and a half. Gosh your stingy this morning.

– No the price is what keeps me from thinking that, but I think three and a half, its a real rich coffee.

– Yeah, if it were cheaper, I think I would definitely go for a four, because it is really enjoyable. But at that price point your getting almost up into the like micro roaster type price point. And there’s, to us, I think a big quality jump. When you get to like $16 dollars a pound, then it’s like oh this is the best coffee, so.

– Or it better be.

– Yeah. Yeah, so that’s kinda, there is more of a, yeah, we expect more when it’s that price point, so yeah, but I think three and a half. Solid three and a half.

– Mhmm, we’d buy it again. If you’ve had any of the Berres Brothers coffees before, let us know which ones and especially this breakfast blend. Tell us in the comments below what you thought of it, and all of that.

– Yeah.

– Shout out to our son Ezra for being our tripod today.

– Coming to you live from, not live this is pre recorded. From the third landing at Kelly Park.

– That’s right.

– In Apopka Florida.

– Well again thanks for joining us, and until next time.
