Gevalia Special Reserve Guatemala Coffee Review
- Hey welcome to Coffee Coffee Coffee, your place for average Joe coffee reviews. Today’s coffee is coarse ground, of course.

– So today we are reviewing Gevalia Kaffe’s Special Reserve Single Origin Guatemala Coarse Ground coffee. Yeah, sorry it’s a long one.

– Waiting for you to finish that title of the coffee.

– It’s supposed to be deep, earthy, and have smoky notes with a hint of cocoa.

– How you do play a smoky note?

– I think just how you did. That was good.

– Alright, picture smoke coming out of a jazz flute.

– Yaz flute.

– Yaz flute. But yeah, so did you already say it’s a medium roast?

– I didn’t say, yeah a medium, kind of medium dark roast.

– Yeah they say on the bag that it’s perfect for your french press, but we stick to our drip coffee maker most of the time.

– It does say perfect for automatic, automatic drip.

– That’s true, we go with what’s easiest,

– Mmm Hmm

– and quickest.

– We do love the french press, we just haven’t had one in years ’cause we had kids.

– Yeah before we had children, french press was our go to thing. We were like hey, look at this.

– Let’s have a luxurious cup of coffee.

– We got our Folgers in our French press.

– Did we drink Folgers, no, no, no, no, we did buy some coffee, we ground it up, but I can’t remember what we were drinking.

– Yeah.

– I think Eight O’Clock.

– Yeah, probably Eight O’Clock, that was our gourmet coffee back in the day. So let’s take swigs. I think that leaf just fell right into the thing.

– So Gevalia, I think we generally have liked the coffees. I mean maybe there’s one or two, but overall, good go-to brands, not too expensive, I think this one was probably like-

– The Special Reserve ones, I think we got it at Target. It was seven dollars, I think, along with the other Special Reserves we bought that day.

– Yeah, so, and it’s a ten ounce bag, so you know. I would say it’s kind of just medium price. It’s not too expensive, but not super cheap. But, I think it’s good.

– So what do you think of the taste? We’ll try to tell you about it before it starts raining.

– Yeah, I think it’s really good. It is earthy. You do get that kind of taste, but I do like the cocoa that I find in it. I did get a hint of smokiness, but it’s like a hint, which is good, because I actually don’t really like smoky-smoky.

– It’s interesting, a lot of coffees, sorry if the wind is bad, a lot of coffees will say on the bag what you’re supposed to taste, and we typically are like, I don’t –

– Yeah. It’s kind of like a, I don’t.

– But this one we do. The earthy, smoky, and cocoa notes.

– Yeah.

– I do anyway.

– Unless it’s a psychological thing, in your inner brain.

– That’s true.

– But I mean, I think you’re right though. Usually that doesn’t really affect us I don’t think, so. You know.

– And for those of you who don’t know, my coffee, I do, for a full cup, I do like a half of a tablespoon of sugar, and Kayla does half and half. Real half and half. Not some crazy creamer or anything like that.

– No sugar, just half and half. Like I make it, you know, there’s probably a couple tablespoons at least in there.

– So what would you say, donut rating?

– At least a four.

– Yeah, I was saying four probably at most, but-

– So stingy, stingy with the donuts today.

– We’re close there, and the rain’s starting. So if you’ve had this Gevalia Kaffe Special Reserve Single Origin Source Guatemala Course Ground, deep earthy smoky notes with hints of cocoa coffee, let us know what you thought about it in the comments below, and if you’ve tried any of the other Special Reserves. I know we did, Papua New Guinea, and Kenya. And maybe Colombia. Was that one? Or was that something different? But anyway, let us know in the comments below. We love to talk to you about it. You know all of that. So thanks for joining us, and until next time-

– Keep grinding!
