- Hey, welcome to Coffee Coffee Coffee, your place for Average Joe coffee reviews. Today’s coffee asks, Who’s your papa?

– So, today we are reviewing Gevalia Cafe’s Special Reserve Papua New Guinea. It’s a single origin fine ground

– um hm blend. So.

– Is that how you say it? Papa?

– Papa?

– Papau? Papau?

– I had a teacher one time, she was like a student teacher, and she called it Pap-Yoo-Uh, New Guinea.

– Student teachers don’t know anything.

– I don’t know. Maybe she was right. Who knows?

– I did a study in Pap-Yoo-Uh, New Gui-nee-Uh.

– Pap-OO-Uh. Pap-Oo-Uh?

– Pap-OO-Uh.

– I don’t know. Papua, New Guinea. That’s how everybody says it, though.

– Yeah.

– Papua, New Guinea.

– Except for maybe the people from Pap-a-yow.

– If you’re in Papua, New Guinea right now, tell us how to say it.

– Yeah. So, anyway, we picked this up at Target. We’re thinking it was probably about eight dollar for the bag.

– I thought seven.

– Yeah, maybe seven.

– I think it was Peet’s was eight.

– Because at the same time we bought some Peet’s for eight and we wouldn’t have paid more for Gevalia than we did for Peet’s.

– Um hm.

– So, either way, you can find them for different prices online or at Target or Walmart or wherever you’re gonna find the thing.

– Yeah. Elevenish a pound is what,

– yeah generally, we’d pay for it, I think,

– yeah is what we found.

– So, uh, what have we thought about this coffee?

– Okay, yeah, so it says on the bag that it’s supposed to be a robust flavor with a hint of sweetness.

– Uh huh.

– And it’s like a medium dark roast on the bag.

– Hmm.

– So, the first time we had this, we hated it.

– Yeah.

– And then we realized there was another coffee that we tried and we also hated it; and then we realized the water in our camper was probably–

– Our RV filter–

– Disgusting.

– needed to be replaced.

– Yeah.

– So.

– So, now.

– We replaced it.

– Yeah.

– And tried the coffee and we enjoy it.

– Uh huh. We’re at Salt Springs right now and I think the water is just delicious and it really helps the coffee so…

– Yeah.

– Water is important. That’s something we get a comment about a lot.

– Yeah.

– It’s like, be sure your water is good, be sure your water is good. And it really, we have found that makes a very big difference in how your coffee tastes.

– Um hm.

– Somebody said that they only used spring water. I can’t remember who it was but.

– We even had someone comment and said that they used, I think, spring water from the refrigerator and they measure out their grounds weight wise.

– Whoa! Oh, man.

– Every time. And I don’t have time for that. But it’s good

– that’s good, yeah if you know that’s how your coffee, that’s how you like it, and you can do it, do it.

– Consistency.

– But on this one, we were trying to figure out what kind of flavors we tasted, and I picked up on a citrusy type of thing.

– Um hm.

– Maybe that’s the sweetness? I don’t know?

– Or the brightness or the acidity? It’s, it’s good though. It’s really an enjoyable; it’s flavorful and it’s like an interesting cup, I think.

– Yeah.

– Or mug.

– Yeah. Overall, I think it’s a winner.

– Mm hmm.

– On sale or not, probably, I don’t remember if it was a sale price, but it’s good. It’s easy to drink, certainly.

– Oh yeah, yeah. I really like it. There’s a good delicious.

– So, what would you say? Donut?

– Three and a half?

– Out of five?

– Would you say? I don’t know? What would you say? Would you go four?

– I might even go to four.

– Ahh.

– I think it’s nice to drink.

– Uh huh.

– Has flavor that you can, that you can pull out. Maybe it’s not as distinct as some.

– Right.

– But you know.

– But it’s good.

– Where you could actually say, oh, that’s definitely blueberry or whatever.

– And, since it is on the, it’s not cheap, but it’s less in price than some of the more expensive, I say four.

– Uh huh.

– Let’s go four.

– Yeah.

– I’m feeling generous today.

– Yeah. Have you had any of these Gevalia Special Reserves Single Origin Coffees? I think we’ve done Columbia? Right? I’m pretty sure we did Columbia. That might be the only one that we did before. We’ve got this Papp-a-yoo-wee-a.

– I’m like Charlton Heston, I never watch the reviews. I’m just kidding. I do. I do. I watch all of them.

– And then also, we have a Guatemala one that we’ll be reviewing as well, right? Isn’t it?

– Yes. It is Guatemala.

– So, if you’ve had any of these, let us know what you thought about them and especially this one, the Pap-a-you, Papa-you-uh, I don’t how you want to say it. This one here. And I’m sorry if we’re offending anyone from Papau, New Guinea. Let us know how we’re supposed to say it. So that way we say it right next time. But leave it in the comments below and we’d love to talk to you about that. So, again thanks for joining us and until next time.

– Keep grindin’.
