Starbucks Breakfast Blend Coffee Review
- Hey, welcome to Coffee Coffee Coffee. Your place for average Joe coffee reviews. Today’s coffee gives way to a nice clean finish. Like the 1938 Yankees.

– Today, we are reviewing Starbucks breakfast blend which is supposed to be bright and tangy. It’s a medium roast and they say a lot about this on the bag. Basically, they formed it in 1998, which was, oh my goodness, 20 years ago.

– Yeah!

– That’s weird.

– Class of ’97!

– Okay. That’s enough of that. Um, it’s supposed to be good for those who prefer a milder cup of coffee.

– Mm-hmm.

– Which isn’t really our taste profile. We like a lot of flavor and boldness, really.

– Milder cups tend to have a beanie flavor.

– Yeah, it’s supposed to be more toasty than roasty and we like roasty. Although, I’ve never really thought of coffee as being toasty. But–

– You’re out in the sun too long, see.

– Yeah, and so it’s supposed to appeal to a wide range of palates. It’s supposed to have a citrusy tang that finishes clean. As you, so.

– Nice clean finish there.

– So, this is a 12 ounce bag and we paid…

– We paid the sale price of $6.99.

– Right, but–

– At the store, is $9.50 for the 12 ounce bag.

– Right, yeah.

– [Both] So.

– $12.66 a pound.

– That’s right. I just looked at the sheet.

– Good quick math. Oh.

– I can’t do that math in my head. But, so Starbucks overall, we tend to maybe not like it. It doesn’t live up to the money that you have to pay for it usually, to me.

– Yeah.

– It’s like, it’s a lot of money to pay for something that I don’t find to be spectacular usually except for Morning Joe.

– Yeah, Morning Joe is a good one. This one holds true to the lighter roast thing where it has that beanie flavor.

– Yeah, beanie. It doesn’t have a whole lotta other flavor. Like, to me it kinda tastes burnt.

– Mm-hmm.

– And–

– A little overdone.

– Yeah, I don’t know. It just misses for me.

– Mm-hmm. There’s, a lot of times there’s not much we can say about a coffee that we don’t really care for.

– Yeah, it’s kinda like why do I not like it?

– Yeah.

– Mainly the burnt flavor. And it seems like there’s no other flavor besides the burntness that I can taste.

– Mm-hmm.

– You know.

– And the beanie.

– Yeah, and maybe I don’t like citrus, but I don’t really taste citrus in this.

– I don’t either. I don’t know, I mean, I’ve seen oranges fall off the tree and sit there for months. Maybe that’s the citrus that they’re going for.

– I don’t know, but with the Sweetwater Organics their coffee

– Blueberry

– Yeah, there was a blueberry, uh man, it’s so good. But there was a definite blueberry flavor. So, I expect when a coffee bag says citrusy I’m gonna be like able to taste.

– Yeah.

– Orange or other citrus. Fruits.

– Mm-hmm. But that’s not the case.

– I don’t know, yeah. Maybe we’re just not refined enough.

– Maybe not.

– I left my knitted hat at home. Anyway, I say that a lot when I’m talking about Starbucks.

– Yeah, you do.

– But anyway, what would you say on a doughnut rating?

– 2.5 or two.

– I don’t even know if I’d go above two.

– Two, okay, let’s call it a two.

– Yeah, we’ll say a two, ’cause it’s not one of those coffees that like, it doesn’t hurt your throat or anything to drink it.

– No, no but–

– It’s not attacking you.

– But, we’ve been drinking it, alright, we’ve had it this whole week has been, ya know, in our cabinet and I keep wanting to drink the other stuff that we’ve got on hand. I was like, eh nah let’s not even though we’re reviewing it. And we tried to drink it several times, so.

– Right.

– What else is in there beating it out right now?

– French roast and espresso roast, Starbucks.

– Yeah, that’s right, it is more Starbucks, but still.

– It’s like a tournament of Starbucks coffees.

– Yeah.

– And this one’s the loser.

– Which mermaid is gonna win? It is the mermaid, right? Not on there. Oh wait, yeah. It’s a fish called Wanda.

– I don’t know, is it like a goddess of something?

– That’s right.

– I don’t know.

– Goodness of beanie coffee. Is her name Starbucks?

– I don’t think so.

– We should probably look that up.

– Get sued by Starbucks.

– Oh, gosh I hope not.

– Well, anyway if you’ve had this Starbucks coffee before let us know what you thought about it. I know sometimes we can disagree, but still you like to hear what we think and what flavors we tasted. And maybe you like those flavors and that tells you to go buy it.

– Sure.

– But anyway, thanks for joining us on this review. And until next time…

– Keep grinding.
