Starbucks French Roast Coffee Review
- Hey, welcome to Coffee Coffee Coffee, your place for average Joe coffee reviews. Today’s coffee tastes like the aftereffects of a campfire in your mouth.

– What? So today we are reviewing Starbucks’ French Roast.

– Smoky.

– Which is supposed to be intensely smoky. It is a dark roast, as all french roasts are.

– Mm-hmm.

– There’s a lot on the bag.

– The darkest, apparently, that you can roast coffee.

– Right. At least for Starbucks it says it’s the darkest you can roast it.

– If they roast it any longer… Were you about to read that part?

– You tell it.

– It’ll burst into flames.

– Right, it really does say that. So yeah, it’s supposed to be straightforward, light-bodied, with low acidity and it’s immensely popular. So basically all the cool kids are doing it.

– That’s right.

– So, the question is, do we like it? First of all, let’s talk about price.

– We got it on sale for $6.50.

– Always.

– $6.99. But regularly it’s $9.50 for a 12-ounce bag which is up there, and so that’s like $12 and something cents.

– 66.

– $12.66 a pound.

– And that’s a lot of money for coffee. Starbucks, to us, is hit or miss.

– Mm-hmm.

– Mostly miss, for the price. It’s one of those coffees if you can get it cheap enough it’s like, eh, you know. But, full price?

– No way.

– No, except for Morning Joe. I’d pay full price all day long.

– And that we picked up at a HomeGoods store.

– That’s right, for cheap. So this coffee, it does smell smoky, first of all. You can smell the smokiness.

– You can taste the smokiness.

– Yeah, you can taste the smokiness.

– You can breathe out the smokiness. Like when I…

– No, there’s no smoke.

– I can tell.

– No there was… I didn’t see smoke but I could taste it again through my olfactory.

– Okay, I think this is gross. I like it, though. I mean, it’s not my favorite ’cause smoky is not my favorite.

– Right.

– Like, once you get out of roasty and into smoky, ’cause I feel like there’s a line there, it’s like you can get roasty and then once you get over into smoky I’m kinda like, I check out a little bit.

– Yeah.

– It’s okay.

– It’s alright.

– It’s pretty good. I’ll say it’s pretty good, not just okay. It’s pretty good.

– If it were better priced it would be even better.

– Yes.

– But it’s not.

– So currently, our donut rating would be?

– I think a three.

– Mm-hmm. A three, all day long.

– It’s one of those that I think we would buy again on sale.

– Yeah, yeah.

– Not full price.

– No, but it is one of the Starbucks that I would buy again.

– Yeah. Is it one of the Starbucks that you would buy again? Have you had it before and you know you would buy it again or not? Let us know in the comments below. And share with us your favorite Starbucks roast or blend. I’m almost said Starbooks.

– No.

– ‘Cause I saw a book over there.

– Right.

– Right. Anyway, thanks for joining us for this review and until next time-

– Keep grindin’.
