Barissimo Guatemala Coffee Review

[spoiler title=’Click here to read the transcript. ‘ style=’default’ collapse_link=’true’]- Hey, welcome to Coffee Coffee Coffee, your place for Average Joe coffee reviews. I saw on Amazon Prime that Dances with Wolves is available now. That reminds me of a line, where he says, good trade. This coffee is fair trade.

– Okay, so today we are reviewing Barissimo Fair Trade Certified Single Origin Guatemala coffee, from Aldi’s, is distributed.

– I like your accent on there.

– What?

– Barissimo.

– I don’t, Bareessimo?

– I think so.

– Oh well, yeah, so, it is 100% arabica coffee. It’s supposed to be a medium roast. Distributed by Aldi, and it was very cheap.

– Yeah.

– It was $3.79, or $3.99 a bag.

– $3.99 for 12 ounce bag.

– $3.99 a bag. Nice packaging, doesn’t really say much about the actual coffee on here. It doesn’t really say you should taste this certain thing. The smell, is like, not that strong, or anything. If you smelled the actual coffee, it’s, just kinda.

– Smells like coffee. Not real strong.

– Yeah, but it’s not like, some of those, when you open it up, it’s like ah. You just get a big old breath of coffee. And this doesn’t have, not breath, well maybe breath. I don’t know.

– Sure.

– A nose full.

– Maybe because it’s single origin, and you only get a single breath.

– That’s not what that means, but. Let’s see, so brand, we got everything?

– Yeah, they had a whole bunch of stuff there. A whole bunch of different kinds. I picked up six of ’em this trip, so we’re gonna do a series here, and this will be the first of those. And we’ll let you know what we have goin’ on in that.

– Yeah, and so with cheaper coffee, we try to let that kind of play into our thinking on, is it really good coffee for a cheap price. If it’s fair, you know, then.

– Or is it only good for the nuclear holocaust.

– Right, okay. So let’s find out.

– So we’ll find out. Right now, we have not had any of this one yet.

– Well, I took, a few sips.

– She took a sip. A few sips, just ’cause.

– She coffee cheated on me.

– I did, I did.

– So let’s see. Smells really bland.

– Mm hm.

– My first sip was kind of nutty.

– Yeah, my first sip, that I took off camera, I kind of get, like a smokey flavor. At the very end is kinda smokey, you know, if–

– Smoked nuts.

– Yeah, if you’ve ever had caramel, and you just let it go for just a smidge too long, it’s just slightly burnt. Yeah, that’s kind of what I taste. But I will say, for $4 a bag, pretty good cup of coffee. It’s not very flavorful I would say. But it’s not bad.

– Again, as we’ve said with other reviews, it’s not offensive.

– Yeah it’s not, no, it’s not offensive–

– You could serve it at a party.

– You could. It’s not bitter at all; it’s pretty smooth, actually.

– And then when you serve it to your friends, you could sound classy by saying, oh, this is a single origin Guatemalan coffee. I bought it on trip down to Guatemala, off of a cart. It was fresh beans, from the, well, you’re getting into the lying territory there. But as long as you stick to the single origin, Guatemalan coffee, you don’t have to tell them that you only paid $4 for the bag at Aldi.

– Yeah, I would say this is a good cup of coffee, the further I get into it. The more I think, yeah, this is good. I’m not dreading drinking the rest of the coffee from this bag, which sometimes I do, because we have so much coffee lyin’ around. It’s like ew, I don’t really wanna have to drink this whole bag, but I hate throwing away coffee, period.

– So we give it to my mom.

– We do.

– Her taste buds don’t work anymore, I think.

– That’s not true.

– But, yeah, so overall, what would you say our donut rating is on this?

– Three and a half.

– Yeah, maybe.

– Yeah, three, three and a half. If it was just coffee itself, I would say probably three. But since it’s so cheap, I’m gonna give it three and a half stars. Donuts, not stars.

– Yeah, I agree.

– Yeah, yeah.

– Alright, well thanks for joining us on this, yet another coffee review on Coffee Coffee Coffee. We hope to see you in the future, and until that future.

– What, what was that?

– It’s for you.

– Oh, sorry. Keep grindin’!
