Barissimo Colombia Coffee Review

[spoiler title=’Click here to read the transcript. ‘ style=’default’ collapse_link=’true’]- Hello, and welcome to Coffee, Coffee, Coffee. Today is your Columbian coffee review.

– Okay, so today we are reviewing Barissimo Fair Trade Certified Single Origin Columbia 100% Arabica Coffee. So it’s a dark roast, it’s sold by Aldi. Actually, it’s distributed by Aldi. So when you say “Aldi’s coffee,” this is generally what people–

– Right.

– You know. We did one review of the big can of coffee.

– Daily Basics.

– Yeah. And this is a different brand. So let’s see, what else? Did I say, “Fair Trade?” Yeah, I said all that stuff. It was $3.99 a bag, so again, cheap coffee.

– Mm-hmm.

– Very cheap. Yeah.

– Yeah. I think the Barissimo brand used to be called Beaumont.

– Oh, okay.

– At Aldi.

– There you go.

– But, yeah. Now it’s Barissimo and they’ve updated a lot of those different ones. They didn’t change the flavor, apparently. But they did change the name, so.

– Right, yeah. And so the smell–

– I said it kinda smelled plasticy in the bag but that could have just been the bag.

– Yeah. It’s just kinda, there’s not a real… like it’s hard to kind of even smell it from the bag. Yeah, it’s just kinda.

– Not strong enough to get past the bag smell.

– Yeah. One of my favorite parts of coffee is the strong smell, but!

– Oh well.

– Oh well.

– All right, well let’s dip our–

– Delve in!

– Teeth and tongues and lips into the coffee.

– What?

– And see–

– That was–

– See what it tastes like. I almost spilled my coffee. Same kinda smell, just kinda–

– Yeah, like–

– Bland smell.

– I’m looking forward to this one ’cause it’s a dark roast so I tend to like dark roasts. Hmm, ‘kay, so it’s a little bit bitter, maybe. But not too bad in the bitterness.

– No.

– But it’s kinda just like, well earthy I would say. Would you say earthy? I would say earthy. Like, yeah.

– Yeah. Fresh dirt. But not, I mean it’s not bad but it’s I think probably a little thicker, maybe like a thickness?

– It’s, okay, so there’s a slight bitterness but there’s not a whole lotta coffee flavor going on for me. It’s kinda just like I can get bitterness and not much else. Like an earthy, but just, it just doesn’t do it for me but it’s not offensive, either, so and with the price and everything, I don’t know. I’d probably give it…

– Two and a half, maybe.

– And a half, yeah. Two and a half. Two if it was more expensive, but since it’s so cheap I’ll say two and a half, yeah.

– Yeah, it’s just kinda not there.

– Yeah. It’s just kinda–

– Up to this point, we’ve reviewed one other Barissimo, or Barissimo coffee and it was better, so you can check out that review. That was of the–

– Guatemalan.

– Guatemalan Single Origin Coffee, which we are doing a series of Aldi reviews.

– Yeah, I mean the further I get into the cup it’s like okay, I can start to kinda taste the coffee more but–

– Yeah, still not–

– Not my favorite, yeah.
