This coffee’s bag says that they live and breathe the whole experience. Maybe they should try drinking it. Today we are reviewing Aldi’s Barissimo. Is it distributed by Aldi? Yeah. It’s distributed by Aldi, but it’s called their Barissimo French Roast, so it’s obviously gonna be a dark roast since it’s a French roast. 100% Arabica coffee. That’s pretty much all you get out of the bag.

– These beans come from an Arabica tree.

– Price?

– It was cheap. It’s, like, $5.02 a pound, which the bag was 12 ounces, so $5.02 for the bag, that’s like $3.79 or something like that.

– Yeah, that’s cheap.

– It’s on the super cheap.

– We said anything at that level is super cheap.

– The question is, is it good, because we like a good dark roast, or I tend to be definitely on the dark side of things.

– Use the force. Dark side.

– Okay.

– Don’t use the force.

– Okay who are you trying to impersonate?

– It’s Sean Connery.

– Doing Darth Vader.

– And Star Wars. James Earl Jones wasn’t available so Sean Connery had to do it. Luke, I am your father. That actually would have been pretty good, I think.

– I would pay to go see it.

– But instead of the, it would have been him sipping a martini or something. Shaken. Not stirred.

– Let’s talk about the coffee.

– Do we have to?

– Yeah. We do.

– Smells like cheap coffee.

– The first thing that hits me when I first drink it, is it’s smokey and kind of ashy and bitter.

– Yep. All three correct, I think.

– I will say that as I kind of get down further in the cup, it’s less noticeable. I guess your palate adjusts to it.

– You almost made me spill coffee all over my shirt.

– I’m sorry, but yeah.

– What would I have done?

– I don’t know. You only have a couple of shirts.

– I think as you get down to the bottom, you say all right, I’m almost done with this cup.

– It’s not one that I would want to buy again. I’d give it, I don’t know. Would you give it 2, 2 and a half?

– It’s really cheap.

– It’s so cheap, so it’s like you gotta give it some grace there.

– I don’t think two and a half, but I think two.

– Two, yeah.

– It’s drinkable, but it is on the border, and because it’s so cheap.

– It’s like, yeah, but, yeah, two and a half.

– Yeah, okay, well two and a half.

– Two and a half because I just feel like it’s not quite a three for me, because three, we would generally buy again. I wouldn’t buy it again.

– I agree.

– Even though it was super cheap, I just, yeah. It misses for me.

– I agree with that completely, and that goes along with some of the other Barissimo’s that we’ve done. The reviews of, you can check them out on the channel. If you’ve tried any that we haven’t reviewed, I went to Aldi recently, and I only found two that we hadn’t reviewed as far as the Barissimo line, but if you see something that we haven’t reviewed, let us know where we might be able to try to pick it up. We’re not gonna pay $15 a bag on Amazon or anything, but let us know, and we’d be happy to see if we can find it.
